Desktop publishing is the creation of diverse media directly on the computer that is either final printed by the computer or sent to contract printers for output. The term "desktop" publishing is used because the actual project is finished on the computer's screen (or desktop), no mechanical paste-ups or manual galleys are used. Full color separations are generated by the computer as part of the process - negatives are played out and plated for the press run. Printing can be low resolution to imagesetter qualities (300 to 2400 dots per inch). Contact Firecat
